Sage-grouse monitoring continues in support of CCSM Project
|
Nov. 8, 2024 – Power Company of Wyoming is developing renewable resources in an environmentally responsible manner on federal, state and private land.
As part of its robust set of environmental commitments and conservation measures, PCW has worked with scientists from SWCA Environmental Consultants since 2010 to gather site-specific data about greater sage-grouse across and around the Overland Trail Ranch, the site of the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project.
The CCSM Project was selected to be featured in SWCA’s "Field Photo Friday" series posted today. The company said:
"We just wrapped up our fall greater sage-grouse monitoring supporting Power Company of Wyoming’s Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project. For the 15th year in a row, SWCA scientists tagged sage-grouse to monitor their movements, behavior and population trends. Tracking data provides insights into habitat use, migration patterns, and population trends, guiding the design and operation of the wind facility to minimize disruption and conserve sage-grouse populations in the area. Here’s to a bright future for sage-grouse and sustainable energy!"
