PCW earns Wyoming "Friend of Labor Award"
|
June 5, 2024 – The Wyoming State AFL-CIO named Power Company of Wyoming LLC and its affiliate TransWest Express LLC as the joint recipients of its 2024 "Friend of Labor Award."
The award was presented last night at the Wyoming State AFL-CIO annual meeting by Phil Cornella, business manager for IUOE Local 800; Tammy Johnson, executive secretary of the Wyoming AFL-CIO; and Kevin Reddy, president of the Wyoming AFL-CIO. Accepting the award on the companies’ behalf was Kara Choquette, communications director for both companies, who also received recognition for her advocacy for good jobs for Wyoming workers.
PCW and TransWest both have partnering agreements in place with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), and PCW also has a partnering agreement with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). The companies were recognized for those union partnerships, and for the jobs being created for Wyoming workers by construction of the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project and of the TransWest Express Transmission Project. Construction on both projects is underway in Carbon County, Wyoming.
